Roberto Cavalli designs are seen everywhere in the fashion world these days but, that wasn't always the case. This Florence born designer was born on November 15, 1940. He is the grandson of a devotee painter and the son of a tailor mother. These two careers would one day integrate in what would be the start of a high profile designing career that would have it's up and downs in the fashion world.
While a trainee at the Academy of Arts he began printing tee shirts which lead to his experimentation of printing on other styles of fabric as well. It was this experimentation that would lead to his and a friend developing a process to print a leather, a process that Cavalli would later use to revolutionize the dress of some of the biggest names in contemporary rock.
In the 60s Cavalli started a factory to yield his designs and held his first show in 1970. His over the top style, animal prints and outrageous sensuous designs got him the concentration of some of the biggest names in the build industry, but, he was thought about a wee too out there for the mainstream of the rich and famous society. That was all to convert when a young and beautiful actress by the name of Brigitte Bardot decided to take a range on the beach in a Cavalli designed dress.
His initial success was short lived however, as the 80s heralded the unisex fashion design. Instead of jumping on this particular bandwagon, Cavalli remained true to himself continuing to build clothing that was sensuous, sexual and wholly wild. This stubbornness would lead him to true fame and fortune as the 90s came into play and people started paying concentration once more to Cavalli designs. He became the first choice of designer for not only the rockers, but the Hollywood set and other rich and famous patrons all the over world.
His Fashions
There isn't an area of the fashion world that Cavalli hasn't made his mark. Men's Wear, Women's Wear and even Children's bear his signature. Then of policy there is the fragrance, the watches, the shoes and even fashions for the home.
